Lee Seung-bok’s birthplace is located near Lee Seung-bok Memorial Hall.

On the information board for Lee Seung-bok’s birthplace, it reads that North Korean armed communist guerrillas who infiltrated Uljin and Samcheok on December 9, 1968 brutally killed a 9-year-old child (Lee Seung-bok) and his brother and mother for the reason that he said, “I hate Communists.”

His birthplace was left vacant over years after he was brutally murdered. In the early 1970s, while removing empty houses slash-and-burn farmers had lived, the government damaged his birthplace. However, it is said that the birthplace was restored through the testimonies of the residents at that time and the photos taken through historical research while a story about Lee Seung-bok was filmed in winter of 2000. The birthplace consists of two rooms, a kitchen, and a barn, with logs piled up and mud covered.
