Anbandaegi

안반데기는 해발 1,100m의 고산지대로 우리나라 대표적인 고랭지 채소 재배지입니다. 경사가 심해 기계농이 불가능하여 주민들은 소로 밭을 일구고 있으며 고랭지 배추에는 그들의 피와 땀이 배어 있습니다. 고지대의 좋은 환경에서 자란 덕분에 안반데기의 고랭지 채소는 최고 등급으로 인정받고 있습니다. 이곳은 한여름에도 서늘한 기온을 만끽할 수 있어 최근 몇 년 사이에 여행자들로부터 ‘차박 성지’로 입소문이 자자합니다.

Anbandaegi is a representative highland for growing vegetables at the alpine region of 1,100 m above sea level.

Due to the steep slopes, it is impossible to farm with machines. So the residents are cultivating fields with cattle and the cabbages grown at the highlands by their blood and sweat. Thanks to the good environment of the highlands, the vegetables grown in Anbandegi are recognized as the highest quality of vegetables. This place has cool temperature even in mid-summer. In recent years, it has been popular with tourists as the “best place for auto camping.”

The name of the village called “Anbandaegi” is derived from the Gangneung dialect of “Anbandeok.” “Anban” means a pounding board for making rice cakes and “Deok” means a means the flat land on the highland. The vegetable garden is approx. 1.98 million m², the size of 280 soccer fields in the shape of wings of an eagle. You can walk the sections of Anbandaegi and Gorupogi and there are paved roads so you can drive. In Anbandaegi, the first town under the sky, located at the foot of the rugged Baekdudaegan, spring comes later and winter starts earlier. You can appreciate beautiful views every season with rye in spring, potato flowers and highland vegetables in summer, splendid colorful leaves in autumn and snowy scenery in winter. In the Anbandaegi Village, there are Anbandegi Historical Materials Exhibition, which shows the tough lives and sorrows of slash-and-burn farmers, and Meonge Observatory where you can overlook the downtown area of Gangneung and the East Sea.
